You’re Missing This Important Part of Your Morning Routine

Updated: 1 day ago

Picture this- you’re scrolling on TikTok or Instagram and come across a video of an influencer. This person is showing you every angle of their perfect home with their perfect bed and perfect floor-to-ceiling windows, and perfect skin first thing in the morning. They then proceed to follow a ridiculously vigorous set of steps that somehow all get done within an hour. That’s not reality. Sometimes mornings suck, but there is a secret to making them change your whole day, week, and livelihood.

The Basics to Starting Your Day

Anything you build in life is only as good as the foundation. Mornings are no different. A well-structured morning routine lays the foundation for a productive and fulfilling day. Healthy habits for the morning include things like:

  • A Good Night’s Sleep (yes, it starts before the morning)

You and I both know that there are certain mornings when we would give anything for just a few extra minutes. We might have been tossing and turning or got to bed late. A bad night of sleep can set the tone for the next day, especially the morning.

  • Hydration

A medical review from Health Match found that we lose 200ml of sweat every night. That can make for a thirsty person in the morning! Drink up and lower the chances of headache and inflammation, and improve digestive health.

  • Nutritional breakfast

Nutrition is the foundation for how we function every day. The way we feed ourselves adjusts our mood and bodily health. How you want to feel for the day depends on how you feed yourself first thing in the morning.

  • Movement

Light stretching or a brisk walk can prepare your body to “wake up” and get ready for the day. It can stimulate circulation and also improve your mood! You can even boost your physical health by starting your mornings this way regularly.

  • Planning

Taking time to outline your tasks and goals for the day enhances productivity. Writing down your objectives can increase the likelihood of achieving them. This practice reduces decision fatigue and provides a clear roadmap for your day.

While all of this does sound good and lovely, the benefits only come when you can actually implement these practices realistically.

Keeping It Real

Let’s take a moment and go back to TikTok or Instagram- whatever you were scrolling on in your imagination. You come across the newly viral influencer Ashton Hall dipping his face in Saratoga water. He gets a fresh, colorful breakfast delivered to him during a business call, followed by an intense workout, and takes a swim in the pool. (In summary.) In this economy, dipping your face in bottled water is already a bit extensive. Also, having the benefits of fresh delivered breakfast and pool access is not always our reality. This fully maximized morning routine might be realistic for people like Ashton Hall, Kim Kardashian, or even our distant relatives. That’s not always the case.

Even if you had access to all these resources and the money to get them, every morning is not the same. Businesses, kids, marriages, and everything in between can make it hard to stay on top of every morning, and that is okay! The influencer lifestyle is not always what it seems, and life gets in the way. The best thing you can do is your best, and remember, a little goes a long way. Bit by bit, you will have a killer morning routine that will transform your daily life.

What is the Secret?!?!

Alright, you’ve waited long enough and now that you’ve made it here, I’m going to give you an important part of your morning routine that you MUST include. Drumroll please…….GRATITUDE.

Reflecting on things you're grateful for can greatly enhance your mood and perspective. Taking a few moments to acknowledge the positive aspects of your life fosters a sense of contentment and sets a positive tone for the day. Life looks different for every human on this planet, yet there is always something to smile about. There is always a reason to be grateful. Even if you do all the recommended steps above and then some, it will not affect your life as much if gratitude is not a part of it. Being able to execute a morning routine of your choice is a privilege to experience. Even if you use Ozarka water over Saratoga water, you still have the bottled water!

Wrap Up

Morning routines set the tone for an effective daily life. If they are done right, you can transform your days into productive and powerful opportunities. Remember, all of the bell and whistles are good and lovely but mean nothing without gratitude. Take a moment and appreciate a new day and a chance to make the most of it each morning.
